This week has been the beginning of finals, as my last class is next Thursday! (where has the time gone?) I have been working on some big projects, such as a 19″x24″ self portrait for drawing, a 6-8 page research essay for English, and my favorite, my design project.
For design, we get to choose what our final project is, as long as we include one of the elements of design that we have learned this year. I chose to incorporate stamping and embroidery into my final design.
Here is my mood/inspiration board:
The piece that I am making is inspired by Giambattista Valli’s spring collection in 2014. I saw this beautiful shirt that had such a unique embroidery technique, and it inspired me to take my textile skills to the next level.
I dream of making a piece where the whole product is something that I fully designed and made. From the fabric to the appliqué. Although that would be hard for me to do now, I want the fabric in this project to be somewhat of my own creation.
As I said before, I am incorporating stamping into this project. Learning how to carve a stamp in design was one of my favorite things to do this quarter. This is what it looks like to carve a stamp:
It is very tedious work……..about 3 hours later, here is the finished stamp:

As of now, I have just started to stamp onto the fabric. After that, I plan on adding some beading! This project is due on Monday, so my next blog post will include photos of the finished product 🙂
Here is my progress:
If you don’t want to miss out on the finished product, make sure to follow my blog by email so that you can be notified when I post it! (scroll to bottom of page).
I can’t wait for you all to see it!
